Happy Thanksgiving!

I hope you all had a Happy Thanksgiving! My family and I had such a lovely time with family and friends. And of course, I took a ton of photos which, I've only begun to sort through... so for today, here's a tour of my Thanksgiving dining room... enjoy!

The kids and I made these cute little turkeys from scrapbook paper and fake gourds. Oh, they're so cute! I had a few gourds in my stash but not enough, but I was thrilled to find Wal-mart had discounted their fall decor to 75% off days before Thanksgiving! I love a bargain!

 This guy is my favorite.

I found a printable online and the kids made cute little pennant banners with their names on them. Oh, I love stuff like this!
 And here's the kids table.
All set up for lots of coloring and drawing.
Oh, it was so much fun! I just love Thanksgiving! I have so much to be thankful for!

As always, thanks for stopping by and thanks for checking out my Thanksgiving dining room! I hope you have a blessed holiday season!

Christmas Pillows!

I just finished some Christmas pillows, just in time for Thanksgiving! Here they are!
This one's my favorite. I love that fabric, I hope to make more.
Oh, I'm such a sucker for houndstooth, and I love this white and limey-green combo.
These ones are a little more grown-up, they just seem a bit more mature.
All three of them, same size pillow, just different fonts and sizes of fonts. I kinda love them.
And here's the happy family of green Christmas pillows all ready to be sent on their way. They're all in my Etsy shop waiting to go to a good home.

P.S. I have some really pretty red fabric that I'm SO anxious to cut into. But I'm trying to control my sewing desires... so instead, I'm scrambling around trying to get ready for Thanksgiving! Yay, I'm so excited to see family and friends!

I hope you all have a very Merry I mean Happy Thanksgiving!

My latest therapy...

I really should be cleaning, planning my Thanksgiving menu, preparing for house guests, but I feel the need for some creative therapy. So, I'm sewing pillows, tinkering with paper crafts and trying to make a cute, fall-colored display... and of course, all while taking pictures.

Here's what I have so far:
I keep adjusting it. I keep adding and subtracting. I might have to subtract the bright yellow flowers, but then again I might keep them just because they look a bit odd. I like to push the limit of what I'm comfortable with because, most of the time I end up loving the "pushed" result.
I had these black lampshades, which looked purple in photos. They had to go.
I traded them for cream ones. Ahh, that's much better.
I made some of these things, I'm not quite sure what to call them, but I like them and they were really easy to make. Scrapbook paper, stapler and some hot glue, that's all you need.
Well, here it is, my side table all decorated for Thanksgiving. And now that the "important things" are done, I suppose I should clear my dining table of all my crafting explosions and start preparing for Thanksgiving! After I finish sewing some Christmas pillows, that is! :)

I hope you're enjoying your Thanksgiving preparations as much as I am!

I think the fabric is so fun and happy, it just makes me smile!

I really need to make these for my kids... in fun, happy colors, hmm... maybe for Christmas!

White Treasures at the Thrift Store!

The other day, I made a quick stop at the Salvation Army Thrift Store in Gresham, OR. Since time was limited I ignored the "50% off all Furniture" sign (guess I'll have to go back) and headed right to the housewares section and here's what I found!
All kinds of white goodies to add to my entertaining collection!
Oh, I was so happy to find this cake stand!
A couple of months ago, I passed up one similar to it at an antiques store... and since then I felt like it was the "big fish that got away". This one was just as pretty, but a fraction of the price. For $5.99, my white-cake-plate-dream is now satisfied.
This little bowl is so cute, I can't wait to use it for Thanksgiving!
I recently pulled out a box of white vases that my sister left with me when she moved across the country. I hadn't used them much, but as I looked through each of them, I fell in love with them and thought it would be fun to add to the collection. I was so happy to find two more beauties to add.
This cute little bubbly one is one of the ones I just purchased. I have quite a fondness for this particular shape; about 12 years ago I collected a whole bunch of these (at thrift stores, of course) for centerpieces at my wedding. I thought they were so cute and 12 years later, they still make me smile. I believe they're still at the church in Minnesota, hmm... I wonder if they want to make a trip across the country...
Quick trip into a thrift store, $14.96 spent, beautiful white treasures found! And the thrifting addiction love continues...

Halloween Re-cap...

Just thought I'd pop in and show you guys some of the highlights from the Halloween happenings that took place at my house last week.

The kids made dipped pretzels to bring to their school Halloween party.

We whipped out a quick banner to hang for our trick-or-treaters.

I made a few pom poms too. They'll carry over into Thanksgiving, so I'll get a two-fer out of them.
Dipped pretzels weren't enough, the kids wanted to bring cupcakes to their school party too. And they wanted to decorate themselves; I had a proud piping-mom moment!

All ready for the costume parade at school. We scoured many thrift stores to make these costumes happen!
 Robin Hood
 Native American Girl
And then we welcomed our friends and neighbors into our home!

I hope you all had a safe and fun Halloween. My family and I had such a nice time visiting with our neighbors and getting and giving lots of treats!

P.S. I'm working on a "Giveaway". I've never done one before, so I'm really excited! Stay tuned for more details...
