10% off Galvanized Tubs and Pails at Coastal Farm and Ranch!

Oh my word! Last week I wrote a little blurb in this post about how Coastal Farm and Ranch is THEE place to go for all your galvanized party needs... and they contacted me! Me! Ack! They contacted me! Well, they left me a comment on my blog and then we exchanged a few emails. And they sent me a $25.00 gift card and a link for 10% off all galvanized tubs and pails for YOU! Yeah, you! No contest involved, it's  just a free coupon! For you! And your friends! Yeah, tell your friends! How cool is that?

Oh, I'm so excited to share the coupon with you. The coupon is good until October 30, 2012 and if you click on this link, you can print it out and bring it with you to your nearest Coastal Farm and Ranch store and pick out all sorts of galvanized goodies at 10% OFF! Every little bit helps, right?

If you already have all of your (galvanized) animal needs taken care of and you're wondering what galvanized items you may NEED for your entertaining or home decor. Here are a few of my faves!

The feed pan. I think I want 2 more. Water bottles, wine glasses, lugging stuff around - oh, the possibilities are endless.
The medium bucket. It's so pretty. Love this size. See photo below for size comparison.
The big ole bucket. I recently returned one (to an unnamed hardware store) and the suggestions of uses for the buckets from other customers in the return line were comical. People kept walking up to me and saying things like, "did you get your laundry all done" or "bobbing for apples?" or "did you wash your dog in that thing?" Needless to say, there are many uses for the big ole bucket!
Here's another one. Stick a medium bucket in a big ole bucket make a flower arrangement with galvanized planters. Yeah, I've been collecting galvanized buckets for awhile. I'm just so glad that I found Coastal Farm and Ranch, I'll never be without the perfect source for my galvanized love addiction!

Don't forget to print out your coupon! And don't forget to come back and tell me what you buy with it! I'd love to hear your galvanized stories!

P.S. More event photos are coming soon! I'm almost done editing and I can't wait to show you!!!

Last minute prep!

Sorting through the photos from the executive event, I came across a few more "set-up photos".
Here they are...

This is the beverage station - in progress.
White flowers in galvanized goodness. Dreamy. Just dreamy.
Yum! I tried to go for fall colored candies - I kind of succeeded. The executives enjoyed the candy, but there is still a lot left over, which will certainly not go to waste. I'm working on a belated birthday party for my little girl and halloween is just around the corner! Whenever I embark on a candy buffet - I try to make sure I have several events that I can use it at because - well, that's a lot of candy!
Ahh... the tables are all finally set up and ready for the executives to arrive.
On the day of the event, in the wee hours of the morning, Erik and I arrived at the beautiful barn that I'm in love with.
We hustled around and finished last minute items and then Erik spent a few minutes working on his presentation.
I snapped a pic of his little name plate. It's so cute. Oh, he's my guy and I'm his person. I love that he wanted me to help him with this event. He knows I get such a kick out of doing things like this and even though I thought it was way out of my league (and my energy level), he had faith and confidence in me and my abilities. That spoke volumes to me. And we did it! We conquerred this event together. I love that. I love him. And I love entertaining. And in case I didn't mention it, I really love that barn!

It's a gorge.net candy buffet!

Well, it's a candy mixed with a little bit of gorge.net merchandise buffet! And yeah, this table was highly frequented during the event!
I've used these candy jars for various events. They are quite affordable, I think they range in price from $3.00 - $6.00 (at Wal-mart). And the trifle bowls, I think I received one as a gift and the other was a $2.00 yard sale find. Clear glass, white glass and now galvanized items are high on my thrifting shopping list!

Oh, and did you notice the little take out boxes? I just stuck little gorge.net labels on them and they instantly became gorge.net take out boxes! These boxes (about 50 of them for $3.00 from Cash & Carry) have become a candy buffet staple in my house!

For a little more gorge.net decor, I swiped these blue "door hangers" from the gorge.net office. I was hoping to hang them somewhere, but wasn't sure where or how...
and then I looked at the fireplace again! Perfect! I used the cutest little binder clips, some jute twine and hung them up! I felt like it added just one more thoughtful touch to the event!

And the actual event, I promise, I'm getting close to those photos...

Thank you so much for following along on my journey through this event. I had a blast! And I'm so happy to share it with you!

Galvanized love!

Ahh... galvanized tubs, my new entertaining love. The venue for this event is a barn overlooking vineyards overlooking Mt. Hood. It's stunning and yet galvanized was the perfect decor fit. Here's a bit of galvanized fun from the executive event I just worked on.

This galvanized tub filled with water bottles is actually a "feed pan". See photo below. It costs about $11.00 and I think I need about three more of them. Not only was it great for display, I think they would work great as serving trays or even for hauling things around. I predict I acquire more on my next trip to Coastal Farm and Ranch. Oh, and the little bucket on the right, isn't he cute? I picked him up at Goodwill. He's holding beverage napkins and sporting one of my little gorge.net pennant banners. I like him. A lot.
"Feed Pan" Ha!
This little galvanized beauty has been used in my house for anything from legos to hand towels and now it's doing a lovely job holding napkin wraps.
More gorge.net water bottles. All chilly in the ice bucket from Coastal Farm and Ranch.
And this was the instigator of my new found galvanized love. Erik said he wanted to get a bucket to serve soda in. Simple idea, been done before, but now my eyes will forever be pealed for anything galvanized to go along with this big ole bucket. With the containers that I used for the centerpieces, I have a pretty good collection. But really, the "game" has just begun. Now I will forever be scouring yard sales, thrift stores and farm supply stores for more inexpensive pieces to add to my galvanized collection. I think it's a worthwhile collection, I'm a pretty casual person and I can foresee using these at many events.

I love this rustic look and I love that this "galvanized love" started with my husband. He's a big ole guy and he has some pretty good ideas. I think I'll keep him. Forever.

Centerpieces

Oh, the executive event was fabulous! It was such a special day. Everything went so well and I got a new entertaining/event planning experience under my belt. I loved the challenge and I loved conquering it even more! Whew! But now I'm in full "event-recovery mode" and I'm slowly sorting through the photos from the event. Here's a look at what I came up with for centerpieces.

Remember this mini teeny tiny banner, well I made one for each of the flower arrangements. Oh, I love them. And they were super easy to make. Fold paper in half, cut with rotary cutter and attach letter stickers to each triangle before gluing them on to twine.
Each of my galvanized containers have been collected; I got one at our church yard sale and the other two I picked up on my recent thrifting excursion. I was so tickled to find them all.
Time was short in prep for this event, so I stuck with the company colors. White (and blue). Erik and I grabbed a bunch of white flowers and it was like they were made for these lovely galvanized containers. I love how they turned out and I love the galvanized addition to my entertaining supplies.

More photos to come...

Crazy, good day!

Oh, I had a crazy, good day.

After I got the kids off to school, Erik and I went to the dreamy event site (aka my new favorite place on earth) we did a little event prep, Erik went to work and I headed home. I took care of the dogs and helped the neighbor's dogs and turkey back into their fence, walked the big dog, drove to Portland, had crazy good luck at the thrift stores, got to pick up a few fun entertaining essentials, had to pick up linens at the rental center, got a few groceries, ran a bazillion other errands, fielded a few phone calls, had a few minutes with my kiddos, washed my new thrift store gems, headed back to the dreamy event site, worked for several hours and now I'm unwinding before the big day tomorrow. Oh, and I sold a few items from my etsy shop. Yeah, it was a crazy, good day.

Here's a little bit of what I found on my camera:

Oh, these make me so happy!
I found a few more galvanized items at Salvation Army! Oh, and a few glasses, we were about ready to start drinking out of glass jars, so I was thrilled to re-stock my cupboard! And even more thrilled that they had a good supply of my favorite drinking glasses. Well, they're actually beer glasses (without the logo), but  I love them because they're triangular and they stack so nicely (in my small cupboard space).
And I found this at Goodwill. The little pitcher is super dainty and sweet. It's really little, I plan to use it for cream. And of course, I can never have too many square white dishes.

I went to another thrift store, guess I didn't snap a photo - but I got some good stuff; more glasses, galvanized fun and a set of vintage Tupperware salt and pepper shakers that are sure to be envied by many. :)
I made a quick stop at Cash and Carry and was so happy to find these teeny, tiny metal tongs for 87 cents. Uh... yes please, I'll take 6!
This little beauty made me squeal out loud! It's teeny, tiny. It's sitting on a piece of paper, that's how teeny tiny it is. Elena helped me make these. I love them. I'm using them on the centerpieces, I think they're going to be so pretty.

Oh, man - I'm crazy tired. I had a crazy, good day - I got in lots of creative time with the thrift stores and event planning. I think those might be my most favorite hobbies, well those and sewing.

Tomorrow's the big day. I'm so proud of my crazy ambitious husband and the event he's hosting tomorrow. He's done such a good job. And he's been so kind and appreciative of my efforts, he has totally melted me with kindness and gratitude, the sweet man that he is! I'm so tired, but really, I'm having a blast! I've been beefing up my entertaining skills and I love adding to my skill set... but, I have to admit that I'm glad this event only happens once a year!

Oh, I better crawl in bed... the whee hours of the morning are going to come fast!

I'll post the photos from the event as soon as I can. I'm so grateful for all of you that have been reading the saga of this event. It's my pleasure to share it with you!

I hope you all have a fabulous week-end!

Oh, little girl!

Oh, little girl... go take a look!
Oh, little girl... you're growing up way too fast.

Ahh. Pause and snap a photo. And breathe. Just breathe. Don't imagine a wedding day here.
Yeah, just look at it. Take it all in. And pretend it's not hazy and Mt. Hood is clear as a bell.
Oh, little girl... I wonder who you will be. I wonder what your future looks like. Oh, little girl, your mommy is getting too sappy...
Yeah, let's get back to work. There are chairs to set up. And many years to live before I start planning your wedding. Yeah, you're 12 and I'm pretty sure you'll be 12 for... like the next 20 years!

On the drive home...
Me: "Oh, little girl... little do you know..."
Elena: "huh?"
Me: "your mamma is planning to have your wedding there..."
Elena: "Oh, I was just thinking the same thing!"
Me: Biggest grin ever.
Elena: "that place is amazing!"

But now, she's 12. Let's never talk of planning her wedding again. Cuz she's my little girl and she's 12! :)

Event prep...

Just a bit of event prep from today...

At the event, Erik will share a bit about himself, our life and the company he works for. He asked me to bring our holiday cards to share with everyone. If you want to see the actual photos, here's a link to my facebook album.

I brought all of my entertaining items to the venue. Lots of glass, white and of course, gorge.net blue!

Even a gorge.net blue pillow! Oh, I know - I can't help myself. Nearly everything that is blue in my house has been relocated to the event site!

Oh mercy, Elena came with me to the venue to help me set up... and oh, that might be a post all of it's own... she LOVED it! I may have gotten a bit teary AGAIN.

Ahh... tomorrow, I'm going to sit in the recliner, sip iced tea, dream dreams, try to let the "event planning adrenaline" settle a bit all while I make more lists and check them twice.

Galvanized fun!

I love adding new items to my entertaining collection! For each event I do, I usually add a little something, sometimes it's a new lego mold, sometimes it's a new paper punch, or a new footed milk glass bowl. Well, for this event - this is what I got!

I love them! They're all metal and galvanized and they're going to be so fun! I scrounged all around the local farm supply and hardware stores and this is what I came home with!

This addition is my hubby's idea! At his upcoming event, he wants to serve the beverages in galvanized tubs filled with ice. So, that means I had got to go shopping! Some of them will be returned, some are too big, some are too small. After the event, I'll sort it all out. But, for now I got some new toys for my entertaining collection. Yay!

P.S. In case you're in the market for galvanized tubs, Coastal Farm & Ranch was the best supplier or if you live nearby - you can just borrow mine! :)

Linen rentals and event set up are on the agenda for today. I've never rented linens before - who knew you should do it several weeks in advance? Good thing Portland is only an hour away!

Event planning...

Ooh, I'm so excited... I'm in the midst of event planning and my house looks like it has exploded in two of my favorite colors - blue and white!

My hubby is hosting an executive (picnic-like) event this week and he asked me to oversee a few details for him. Truth is we both LOVE entertaining so this is pretty fun to do together... although, we both work so (ahem) differently. I'm a planner - and he's more of a fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants kind of guy, which I really (mostly) love. :)
Ooh, look at these napkin wraps! This is the first time I've done these so personalized, and certainly not my last. One of Erik's co-workers e-mailed me the company logo and I went online to Avery.com and downloaded the label template, added the company logo and printed them out! That's it. So easy!  I may have been just a little bit giddy sticking all of the gorge.net stickers on! I get such a kick out of all of this "entertaining stuff"! And I really love when I get to add a new "something" to my entertaining repertoire! And it's a major bonus when it's easy!
I printed them out on big oval labels for the water bottles! Oh, I'm so excited about these, I'll try to take "prettier" photos at the event, but I can't help but show you how cute (and easy) these are!

Oh man, I've got a lot more "details" to oversee... so I better get back to it... I just thought I'd give you a glimpse of my entertaining prep that I'm working on.

But wait, I have to tell you about the location for the event - it is TO DIE FOR! Is it wrong that after I saw the location (and after I possibly got a bit teary) I started planning my (12 year old!) daughters wedding? Hmm, I wonder if they'll take a deposit? I'm sure they could hold it for... let's say 20 years!!! Oh, it's so dreamy - I'll have to snap a few pictures to show you so you can see too. But think - barn overlooking vineyards overlooking Mt. Hood. Sigh! It's that dreamy.

Since this is an executive event, you all can't come with but, I'll take a ton of photos and I'll be sure to tell you all about it afterwards! :)
